Reproductive Justice Event--Write For Your Rights

2017-08-27, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm (Sunday, August 27)

In partnership with Ventura County Reproductive Rights Network, we will have letters to our elected officials on a range of reproductive health care topics prepared for the public to sign. In past years, we have collected as many as 1,500 letters during a WFYR’s event. By bundling these letters, we will send a strong message from our community to our elected representatives.

The event is free of charge and open to the public.

The purpose of the Ventura County Reproductive Rights Network is to educate our community about reproductive health issues in support of reproductive freedom, rights and access.

PAST EVENTS

Cancelled (Wade Through Deep Waters)

2017-07-07, 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm (Friday, July 7)

This event has been cancelled, because the presenters’ bus broke down in the desert. We apologize for any inconvenience.

A Performance by Holy Fool Arts

Wade Through Deep Water introduces two prophets, Miriam and John the Baptist, whose water-logged lives kept them swimming in transformation. This theatrical piece is full of storytelling, high energy song and dance numbers, live music, dramatic archetypal characters, and dances with large silk props, while exploring the sanctity of clean and pure water.

Holy Fool Arts bridges the worlds of faith, art, and activism. They are inspired by the ancient vision at the heart of the world’s spiritual traditions of human life in harmony with the rest of creation. After the performance, Ched Myers, author and activist theologian, will offer a brief introduction to ‘watershed discipleship’, a view of watershed protection from
theological, ecological and practical perspectives.

$15 donation requested, but nobody will be denied entry for lack of funds.
