So... You're New to Our Community...
...and you want to get involved.

There is much more to our Fellowship than our Sunday service. We believe that to have a strong vibrant church, we need to have every member become an active participant in our community. To accomplish this goal we have many social, spiritual and educational groups that help us connect and support each other. There are also volunteer opportunities to assist in the running of the fellowship.

Use this web page as a new member of the community to help you become more involved in the fellowship. Most new members have found that joining a group within the fellowship to be their most important first step in getting to know the community.

As you look over the various areas listed, please consider where you might be interested in participating. Visit the "Opportunities for Fellowship" table after the Sunday service to pick up handouts on the various activities which list contact people and their phone numbers. Feel free to call them for more information.

You do not have to be a "member" of the fellowship to be involved. Most of the activities are open to members and friends.

Welcome to your new community!

Sunday Service

We have an active Worship Committee that works with our Minister, members of the congregation and guest speakers to plan our Sunday morning services. These volunteers may also serve as moderators (Worship Associates) at the service. Another group of volunteers performs set-up and take-down for the service, ushers or greets people as they enter.

Community & Discussion Groups

There are a number of small support and community groups that meet to connect with others, discuss life experiences, and lend support. These include Men's and Women's groups and Community groups. Other groups meet to discuss topics of interest such as movies, books, or music. Join an existing group or start a new one on a topic you are interested in.

Religious Education

Our life-span religious education program has something for everyone. Our adult program includes a meditation group as well as classes and seminars on spirituality, personal growth, world religions and much more. Classes for children are offered Sundays during service and are taught by volunteers from the congregation, guided by our Director of Religious Education and age appropriate curricula. There are many opportunities to teach or help or to learn.

Music

There are many opportunities for anyone who loves music. Our Choir sings at the Sunday service once or twice a month and at other special occasions. It is all volunteer and open to anyone with a desire to sing. We also have a Mostly Men's Chorus and Children's Choir. There are opportunities for soloists and instrumentalists at services, amateur entertainment occasions and other social events.

Caring Network

We have a Caring Network that provides home and hospital visits, cards and flowers for those who are ill and other emotional and logistical support to our members and friends who need it.

Service and Social Justice

We work with the UU Service Committee on a national level and with Interface and Manna on a local level, providing food and supplies to the needy. There are also opportunities to speak out and participate on social justice issues, such as Project Freedom of Religion (FOR).

Social Activities

There is an active social calendar throughout the year including potlucks (Circle Dinners), annual campout, Coffee House amateur entertainment night, Valentines Dinner, Halloween Costume party, Games Day, hikes, and many others. We also have an annual musical show and dinner (potluck) to kickoff the canvass fundraiser. These afford opportunities to plan as well as to participate.

Fellowship Operations

Our fellowship is a mostly volunteer run organization so there are many and varied opportunities to help in the day to day operations or for special occasions. These include fundraising activities (annual auction, scrip sales, canvassing etc.), membership, newsletter, and many others.
