June 2005

Dear CVUUF Members and Friends:

Welcome to Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Religious Education (RE) Program. The 2005-2006 RE year is dedicated to the interdependent webs of which we are a part.

Enclosed with this letter is a brochure outlining the entire Religious Education program for the 2005-2006 church year.  Please read through the brochure as it will give you valuable information pertaining to our Lifespan Program.  Adult education is listed on pages 10 and 11.

As voted upon at our annual meeting held on June 12, 2005, a materials fee will be assessed per child for the general program as well as materials fees for adult RE, Our Whole Lives (OWL) and Coming of Age (COA).  Fees are listed in the brochure.

It takes approximately $75.00 per child to maintain the children’s program, not including salaries for staff.  Your generous contributions in the way of pledges fund three-quarters of the program, the salaries of the Director of Religious Education and the child care staff, the children’s library, trainings for OWL facilitators, youth advisor trainings and more.  The materials fees supplement the supplies needed to maintain art and classroom supplies. Adult RE averages are $100.00 or less per class. However, in the past a fee was charged by the facilitators; or the facilitators bore the brunt of the cost of the class. The materials fee is designed to augment the work of the church, of which Religious Education is an important part.

The fee will be collected upon registration in either the children’s program, adult RE, OWL or COA.  We will continue to welcome visitors to our children’s program.  They will be asked for the materials fee only after their sixth visit.

The 2005-2006 RE Children’s Program will begin on Sunday, September 18, 2005.  Dates are listed for other RE events and programming in the enclosed brochure.  If changes to programming are necessary, they will be listed in CVUUF’s Monthly Newsletter.

If you would like to speak with the Director of Religious Education she can be contacted by email at dre@cvuuf.org or by leaving a message at the church office (805) 492-8751.

Yours in faith,
